Adventure (shoot) with Tom Clark

Mon Jun 15, 2009, 6:54 AM
Tom Clark [link] and I had an adventure in the mountains east of my ranch last Friday. We headed up with my horses to do a photo shoot and take a ride. When we reached the location for the shoot, I headed off on a side road with the truck and trailer and promptly got stuck. I quickly stripped off my clothes, to prevent them from getting covered in mud, and proceeded to put the chains on the truck (I ended up covered in mud, which added to the shots.) Tom unloaded the horses and I easily got unstuck, this time. I proceeded on up the road, following Tom, who was leading the horses, which was a serious mistake. The road got worse and worse and I was soon buried up to the axles in mud and truly stuck (this is in 4-wheel drive, with the mud-duty chains on.) I dropped the trailer, and was still stuck. I slowly worked the truck back and forth and eventually got out of the mud. I had to drag the trailer sideways off the road, which was accomplished fairly easily, then hooked up again and hauled the trailer back to solid ground cross country, avoiding the road. I was sure when I dropped the trailer, and was still stuck, that I would have to leave the truck and trailer and come back the next day or I'd end up spending all night trying to get out. We were in remote country with no cell service, the closest place to get help was at least 15 miles away and we would have had to ride out on horseback to get help.

Anyway, after the start of the adventure, I participated in the greatest shoot I've ever been a part of. The 5 shots I've seen so far have been the best that I have ever gotten of me!

Thanks Tom for being such a great sport with the adventure, for becoming a good friend, and conducting such a great shoot!

More shots to come!
